Wrap Up on Welcome Weekend in to Junior Year!

    Coming back to Ohio Northern University (ONU) after Welcome Weekend as an Orientation Leader has been fun! Welcome Weekend was a great ball of joy. I had fun dancing with their other Orientation Leaders while getting to play games and making new friends while helping the new freshman get acclimated to campus. It makes me sad that the Welcome Weekend is over, but I am excited about my junior year.

    To start off my junior year I have some early classes, but I get done by 1 pm which is better than last year when I wouldn't get done by 3 pm. Already I feel kind of overwhelmed with the workload including some of the accounting classes that I am taking this summer. I felt that I haven't even got any of my questions answered about assignments along with how to access the assignments on a new school platform that ONU got called Canvas.


    I have personally liked using this platform because how it is easier to access assignments and look at assignments. However, some other platforms that I am using for my accounting classes like Connect have been a little tricky to learn how to do assignments along with learning how to answer Certified Public Accountant (CPA) questions when I am only a junior. I think is insane to start to learn some questions of the CPA exam now in class. Despite learning new learning software I am excited to start my junior year at ONU and what the year brings.

    I feel the same way about Canvas- it is definitely nice to have a sleeker and more modern LMS, but it has been difficult to use Connect for some of my courses. I'm sure it will get easier to use at the year goes on (hopefully)!

    Canvas definitely has taken some getting used to, but I feel like long term it will work out for students and professors much better than Moodle ever did. Best of luck on your junior year!

     Hey, guys welcome back to my blog! I hope everyone had a good Easter this past weekend because I did! Let me tell you what I did this Easter weekend! Friday, I got to see my aunt, uncle and little cousin. They are from Maryland and they just bought a camper so they brought it to Ohio with them so they could go camping and for my family and I to check it out which was pretty nice! Later in the day, we went on an easter egg hunt for my nephew and my cousin. I didn't know that it was the first Easter egg hunt that my town put on which was a great turnout but was pretty crazy when the kids went to get the eggs. I am going to tell you it was like the "Hunger Games." Saturday, my family and I colored goose eggs, duck eggs and chicken eggs for Easter this year which was pretty interesting. ONU Life Week 1

A week ago, I came back early for track, but I can tell you it was weird but nice to be back on campus before everyone else came back to campus. Then a week later class started, my first day back for the second semester at Ohio Northern University was kind of overwhelming from a month break to rolling into the next semester. I have to say my professors wasted no time to start their classes. Right off the back, they had me doing assignments that were literally due next week! But that is not even the most overwhelming thing that happen that week. What made my week was not being able to buy my books. You might say buying your books for class should be easy, well your wrong. I tried buying my books probably three times online and it failed because the server wasn't working so I had to walk to the ONU Bookstore to see if they could help me. Bellefontaine Trip

      A couple weeks ago I went to Bellefontaine with my friends. We usually try to plan things every weekend to keep us busy but this time we decided to go to Bellefontaine again! This time on this trip we had a couple of things planned but not a ton so the first thing we got was some hot chocolate because it was a cold day then we went shopping. We looked at antique shops and little small business shops. All the shops that we went to were very cute and we had a lot of fun! I got a shirt at an antique shop so did my friends too! A couple hours later, we went to my friend Maddie's house to have dinner. For dinner, we had chicken alfredo with garlic bread and my friends and I ate all the garlic bread! Later that night, we planned on going to Maddie's sister's play which was a musical called "Into the Woods." The play was amazing with the actors, actresses, and the decorations too!
