Time to learn about Social Media Marketing: Chapter 7

In Chapter 7 in "Essentials of Social Media Marketing," I learned how businesses can use Snapchat to advertise their business. Some topics that I am going to talk about are Snapchat targeting, Snapchat ad objectives, Snapchat ad formats, snap bidding and measuring Snap Ads. For Snapchat targeting, I learned that advertisers can choose from 300 audiences to connect with. They can see have their interests are and behaviors, location and demographics. Moving on to Snapchat ad objectives advertisers can choose more advanced ad objectives that fall under awareness, consideration and conversions. For Snapchat ad formats, advertisers can pick a single image or video for their ads or showcase a collection of ads for people to purchase just with a tap of a button or story ads that are tailored to the Snapchatters' preferences. Snap bidding is goal-based bidding that allows brands to bid on a goal relative to total impressions, video views, swipe-ups, shares, or installs. With having all of these ads, advertisers can measure their ad with Snap Ad. With Snap Ad it reports a dashboard that allows brands to monitor their ads in real-time, identifying performance trends and optimizing toward their goals. Overall, I think that Snapchat is a very useful tool for businesses to advertise their content on because a lot of people use it for chatting or snapping with their friends or family. Also, it can be another way for businesses to engage more with their audience and to advertise on this platform.

  1. Swipe-ups are a big feature of marketing on Snapchat. It is a direct engagement from consumer to business. Sometimes, I find myself accidentally sliding up on a snap ad, which takes me to their page. Then I am stuck in the wormhole, and before I know it, I have been on their website for a half hour. I have noticed that some ads no longer lets you click past it. You have to wait at least five seconds before you are allowed to skip it. Marketing on Snapchat may seem unimportant compared to other platforms, but it is actually one of the top ways to market your company.
