Image
Welcome back to another life update with me! I know it has been some time since I talked about what is going on with my life but trust me it has been I very unexcepted year for me but I want to talk about the exciting things that happened this weekend with me! This past weekend one of the organization's that I am involved with called Sister to Sister held a Brown Girls Brunch event which was so exciting to do because it was our very first one that we put on! We had about over 40 people that showed up to our event which was very exciting to see! We had purple and white decorations and delicious food plus everyone was dressed up for the event which was amazing to see! In addition, we had a presentation about what Sister to Sister is and had a speaker that talked about what kind of influencers we look up to. At the end of the event, we had our guests make little self-care bags that had facemasks, chapsticks and hand lotion for them to take home. Overall, the event had a great tur

End of the Book about Social Media Marketing. Let's Review!

Image
Hey guys! Today, I will be talking about the book that I have been reading for my social media class called "Essentials of Social Media Marketing," and what I thought about the book. To summarize, I thought the book was very informative about how to do marketing on social media, to develop my personal brand, then how to market on all social media platforms like Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, Facebook, Snapchat, Pinterest, YouTube and Instagram. Learning from each individual platform and learning what it has to offer in social media marketing. Some examples are YouTube responding to COVID-19 on its platform by updating its guidelines and partnering with the Centers for Disease Control to launch a link to a COVID-19 self-assessment in its health panel in Search. Another example is LinkedIn has different uses with its pages on its platform so it can  build brand awareness, engage with employees and customers, foster engagement, and attract and interact with a target audience.

Time to learn about Social Media Marketing: Chapter 13

Image
In Chapter 13 in "Essentials of Social Media Marketing," I learned more about social media marketing campaigns. I know in some of my classes previously we talked about social media marketing campaigns but I was very interested in how they went into more detail about it in the book. Some tips that I learned on starting a campaign is before you start your campaign you want to establish goals that way you know what you want to accomplish with the campaign. Next, is choosing a campaign idea, theme and type so you know what audience you are targeting and persuading others to take action. In addition, you want to identify your target audience and determine your campaign budget and resources. Then, you want to outline the parameters of your campaign and the right incentives to encourage participation in your campaign. Also, determining where the campaign will live, select the social networks, choosing the timeline, developing the campaign assets and content calendar, and settin

Easter Weekend!

Image
Hey, guys welcome back to my blog! I hope everyone had a good Easter this past weekend because I did! Let me tell you what I did this Easter weekend! Friday, I got to see my aunt, uncle and little cousin. They are from Maryland and they just bought a camper so they brought it to Ohio with them so they could go camping and for my family and I to check it out which was pretty nice! Later in the day, we went on an easter egg hunt for my nephew and my cousin. I didn't know that it was the first Easter egg hunt that my town put on which was a great turnout but was pretty crazy when the kids went to get the eggs. I am going to tell you it was like the "Hunger Games." Saturday, my family and I colored goose eggs, duck eggs and chicken eggs for Easter this year which was pretty interesting. We even colored them differently this year by using shaving cream and food coloring, the eggs turn out pretty well! Sunday, we woke up pretty early to find our Easter baskets and do an Ea

Doing a Podcast with Brooke Allen! Who did we interview?

Image
I have to say I have never done a podcast before but my friend Brooke and I took it up this week for our class assignment. But let me tell you it was kind of tricky but fun at the same time! Brooke and I needed to find someone that had a lot of experience with social media but we were running low on time. So, I mention to Brooke, "what about Alyson Hoffman, she would be the perfect candidate for our podcast assignment and could answer our questions!" Once I said that to Brooke, she was all on board! So I contacted Alyson and she said, "I've got it down in my calendar." Next thing, we were interviewing Alyson Hoffman about social media! Alyson is a Junior, majoring in quite a few things and minoring in Social Media! In addition, she is involved with many clubs on campus. The topic that we wanted to discuss with Alyson was the authenticity of social media. Interviewing her about this topic was amazing! I enjoy every minute of it. We talked about what influenc

Time to learn about Social Media Marketing: Chapter 12

Image
In Chapter 12 in "Essentials of Social Media Marketing," I learned more about blogs, vlogs, podcasts and webinars. Reading through this chapter I really wanted to focus on blogs since we write them so much! What I learned more from reading this chapter about blogging is that you need to set goals for blogging like metrics on click or click-through rate, engagements, number of visitors, leads, website traffic, social shares, number of blog or email subscribers and time spent on a page. The next thing that I learned was to identify the target market which is the audience that you are targeting with your blogs. Furthermore, in creating a Blog Site some elements that I learned to consider are an "about" page, consistent branding and color schemes, content categories for blog posts, highlighting blog authors, popular posts, related posts or archived posts, blog post templates with the ability to include graphic and videos, search function, sharing buttons and subscr

Time to learn about Social Media Marketing: Chapter 11

Image
In Chapter 11 in "Essentials of Social Media Marketing," I learned about TikTok features and how they are used on their platform. From my experience, I don't know a lot of TikTok features but I from reading this chapter I learned more about TikTok. To be honest I only use TikTok to view videos. The first thing that I learned about TikTok is "The Look." This feature lets users create a video by tapping the "+" icon at the bottom middle of the screen. Creators can choose from a variety of filters, text options, transitions, stickers, gifs and more to change the look and feel of the video. The next feature is the sound of TikTok it is a large library of songs and sounds available for creators to use in the videos. All the songs are organized by genre, popularity, trends and more. Users can also create original sounds that range from singing to voiceovers to commentary to music mashups. Another feature is the story which are certain types of videos li

Bellefontaine Trip

Image
A couple weeks ago I went to Bellefontaine with my friends. We usually try to plan things every weekend to keep us busy but this time we decided to go to Bellefontaine again! This time on this trip we had a couple of things planned but not a ton so the first thing we got was some hot chocolate because it was a cold day then we went shopping. We looked at antique shops and little small business shops. All the shops that we went to were very cute and we had a lot of fun! I got a shirt at an antique shop so did my friends too! A couple hours later, we went to my friend Maddie's house to have dinner. For dinner, we had chicken alfredo with garlic bread and my friends and I ate all the garlic bread! Later that night, we planned on going to Maddie's sister's play which was a musical called "Into the Woods." The play was amazing with the actors, actresses, and the decorations too! After the play, Maddie's sister was so excited and happy to see us and we were ha
